Community Service Day
Tuesday, November 3rd gave both the college and academy students an opportunity to reach out to the community. Every now and then, it’s nice to take some time and remind ourselves that we truly are here for service to others. Helping out in the community is a blessing, not just to the people we help, but also to us; it helps us feel closer to God when we can walk in His steps, reaching out to assist where needed.
One college and academy group went to the Arkadelphia Church Plant. The church building, which is rented, had fallen into terrible disrepair over time, and begged to be fixed up once again. We painted trim, built new bathroom dividers, and began replacing the roof (it had to be completed the next day by a smaller group of volunteers).
The other community service group assisted in Lonsdale with the rebuilding of a home for the Arkansas-Louisiana ACS DR Coordinator. Her home has been devastated by numerous hurricanes and tornadoes over the last few years. Ouachita Hills helped out with numerous projects there, including drywall, digging ditches, picking up trash, organizing, and stacking wood.
God blessed with high spirits, gorgeous weather, and lots of energy. We praise the Lord for helping us accomplish so much in such a short amount of time.
